We are currently looking for an experienced Press Supervisor to join our Printing Press Department. This valued press supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating assigned Press & Plate department operations within the plant. Responsibilities include meeting plant objectives for quality, quantity, cost and delivery. The incumbent controls the area’s work schedule, quality control, allocation of materials, and equipment. They are responsible for leading and supporting the safety program for the area, and for the training of employees to include Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and emergency spill response procedures, if appropriate. The Press Supervisor coordinates production and performance goals, organizes work, and maintains a productive and motivational climate.
The incumbent supports and partners with continuous improvement engineers to drive process improvement and safety goals to full maximization.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing and/or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of Printing experience in Production/Manufacturing operations & supervision a must.
- Valid supervisor experience managing a team & department.
- Has demonstrated the ability to lead, train and develop people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office Suite, in particular Excel Spreadsheets.
- Ability to track production information and workflows.
- Has served as an effective role model, either externally or internally.
- Cross-functional communication experience.
- Ability to create and maintain good vendor relationships.
- Strong safety background and experience developing and executing safety plans.
- Must be able to work Night Shift (Sunday-Tuesday & alt. Wednesdays 7pm-7am)
Preferred:
- Experience in “made to order” business/manufacturing.
- Press Supervisor experience (Yearbook and/or Commercial).
- Basic knowledge of 5S methodologies and Lean Manufacturing.
- Exposure and knowledge of Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Supervise assigned department areas and direct workflow. Provide training, direction and support to assigned employees across Press, Folding and Plate.
Oversee area/department production schedules, quality, materials and equipment, as assigned.
Set production, performance goals and objectives, train and develop a diverse workforce, provide coaching and counseling when necessary, and write employee performance reviews
Prepare and monitor budgetary process. Meet department objectives for quality, productivity and cost.
Support 5S and PM for all equipment and systems; ensure employees are properly trained on equipment operation, safety and proper maintenance as applicable.
Participate in and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Manage Safety for the department(s) and ensure that his/her area(s) work within the plant’s Safety procedures and work rules. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes Safety and compliance with OSHA standards.
